Why did John introduce Jesus as the Lamb of God?
He refers to the sacrificing of lambs traditionally made for the amendment of sins. Lamb means also meekness and innocence. Jesus obedience till the shedding of his innocent blood to redeem humanity. Also the reference is to Isahia and the prophest announcing him. Those who treasure those words would have recognised him by hearing him referred to as the Lamb. Back in Moses days, in Leviticus, for sins repentences and offerings they have to burn the first born, unblemished lamb and Jesus as spotless of sin is on my, yours and all of us, died as a Lamb of God in return for us to be save from sins.
